Abstract

Snakebites are considered medical emergencies because they can result in local tissue damage, bleeding, renal failure, and respiratory failure with the ultimate outcome of disability or even death. Cases of venomous snake and animal bites continue to increase. The reduction of animal habitat, in this case due to the large number of land changes and functions into residential areas, causes animals to often enter residential areas. This is a threat to residents who live close to animals. Even domesticated animals have the potential to become a source of disease for residents. The severity of health threats that can occur due to animal bites such as venomous snake bites, dogs, cats and even monkeys, so residents need to get health education in order to increase awareness and prevent diseases caused by animal bites, especially residents who live around the habitat of venomous snakes and wild animals. Data analyzed used in this study was N-Gain score with the result was 0.9692 or 96.92%, showed that there was a change in knowledge in the awareness of neurological and haematological symptoms due to animal bites in Jering village, Sidorejo, Godean, Sleman, Yogyakarta.
