Abstract

Old age is a natural process that gradually transforms a healthy adult into a weaker individual due to the decline in normal functions, resulting in increased vulnerability to diseases. To improve the quality of life for the elderly, the involvement of families in caring for the elderly, especially those who are weak or need assistance, is crucial. Therefore, it is necessary to provide support to families to enhance their knowledge, attitudes, and skills in caring for the elderly, particularly those who require assistance. The purpose of this community service is to empower cadres in enhancing family independence in the physical dimension of the elderly. In Giwangan Village, the method used was focus group discussions, providing health education, and training for cadres to improve the health of the elderly in Wirogunan Village. The results of the community service conducted on 30 cadres showed a 70% increase in the knowledge of the cadres and a 10% increase in the family's level of independence. Conclusion of community service in Wirogunan Village The level of independence of elderly families increased after regular visits by cadres to elderly families, thereby improving the health of the elderly.
