Background: Hypertension is a condition where a person's blood pressure is more than normal, as indicated by the systolic and diastolic values ranging from 140/90 mmHg or more. Hypertension can be controlled by changing lifestyle, giving antihypertensive drugs, and progressive muscle relaxation therapy. From the health profile data in Gunung Kidul in 2020 the estimated number of men and women with hypertension aged 15 years is 102,969 with 49.940 male hypertension patients and 53,029 women. Objective: to describe how to reduce blood pressure with progressive muscle relaxation therapy in hypertensive patients in Wonosari Hospital. Methods: data collection by interview and observation. Provision of progressive muscle relaxation therapy procedures by measuring blood pressure before and after being given once a day for 3 days on 16-18 April 2022. Results: The results obtained after being given progressive muscle relaxation therapy for 3 days were able to help pharmacological therapy in lowering blood pressure, namely an average of 8-33 mmHg for systolic blood pressure and 8-24 mmHg for diastolic blood pressure until the third day. Conclusion: progressive muscle relaxation therapy can help pharmacological therapy in lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
